Thank you for inviting me to the International Conference of the Global Somali Diaspora in Istanbul in 2019. The delegation in Switzerland of the Somali Diaspora would like to adopt a resolution to the Somali national and regional authorities, brothers and sisters, at the conference, as follows: “Dear sisters and brothers in our beloved homeland Somalia in all cantons (federal counties) We from the Diaspora from all over the world thank you for your difficult work as leaders of the authorities in Somalia and in all federal counties. We know that Somalia is not an island. Somalia is an important country, with a multi-layered millennia-old culture at the center of the global economy. More than two-thirds of all global merchandise passes by the shores of Somalia. Somalia is on the fringes of countries whose fossil resources are vital to the world, and it is therefore trying to control this region by all means possible. Some of these industrialized countries are not shying away from splitting our country, and our neighboring countries, from within, in order to better assert their own interests. If the Somalis are not united, they weaken themselves so much that Somalia can be misused by other countries with their own interests, purposes and goals. This is how entire generations of people, fathers, mothers and children suffer because we allow ourselves to be counteracted. Instigated by external powers who are completely indifferent to our state of life and our future. Our homeland is still strongly influenced by the traditional tribal culture, the different tribes that live together across Somalia and beyond the existing boundaries in the neighborhood and in refugee camps. All of us, the people of the traditional Somali region at the Horn of Africa, speak a common language. We from the Diaspora live mostly in democratic states, where we can partake in an additional “language and culture”, the tradition of democracy developed over many centuries. We have learned that in these countries the state is committed to meeting the needs of all people and not just trying to do so. This is desired and demanded by the civil society that we all form together, regardless of our background, our cultural background or our religions. That is what we wish for our sisters and brothers in Somalia! We wish you to become part of our world community. We remain committed to working hard for a healthy and strong Somalia. We have good relations in the countries where we live now. We would like to use these for a peaceful and prosperous Somalia. That’s why we call on you, to put off the injuries and disputes that hurt ALL of us and hinder us to lay down the sad past, and give democracy and its development in Somalia a chance. We appeal – and ask you to: – Legitimate yourself by popular elections – Ruled for all, citizens, and not only, for the interests of your tribes Listen to the man, listen again, look, look again, remember, think about it, talk to each other, and talk to your children, brothers and sisters, not to the cameras If the UN calls for a UNRWA so that all children throughout the country, in the entire region, can go to school, including those in the refugee camps, terrorism can be dried up in the long term. Somalia was the first country to repel the colonizers in Africa, and repel those of you who are negatively and destructively influencing you now, splitting you from within, and abusing you only for their own interests! We all, here and there, are responsible, we want a free, peaceful and prosperous Somalia, for our mothers, fathers, children and their children. We want a future for Somalia. A Somalia that measures its strength for the benefit of the weakest in our country and for peace with our neighbors, the Indian Ocean, the Horn of Africa! إنشاءالله In shā’Allāh Yes – he wants it! ” hank you for inviting me to the International Conference of the Global Somali Diaspora in Istanbul in 2019.
